Mayor Announces Intervention in Ciudad del Este Downtown

The newly elected mayor told Radio La Clave that the commercial downtown of Ciudad del Este will receive a major intervention to address merchants’ and business owners’ complaints. The five-year plan includes:

• Road works on Monseñor Rodríguez and San Blas avenues, from the Customs zone to the Oasis sector.
• Rehabilitation of 100 plazas, including large squares and peripheral areas, in partnership with neighborhood committees.
• An initial investment of 8 000 million guaraníes to improve seven medical dispensaries, with expansion to 14 more facilities next year.
• Sponsorship agreements with private companies to allocate municipal resources to other needs.
• Incorporation of technology, artificial intelligence and statistics to identify sanitation needs by neighborhood.
• Renewal of the public-transport fleet, with negotiations to acquire between 50 and 80 new buses and a study of small electric buses.

In addition to the works, the mayor highlighted that the municipality’s own revenues grew from about 170 000 million guaraníes in 2019 to a projected 250 000 million by the end of 2026, and that claimed debts were reduced by roughly 90%.
