Missionary Festival in Foz do Iguaçu: 400 Years of the Missions

The schedule includes performances by the Orchestra and Choir of the Capela Musical of the Jesuit-Guarani Art Museum, scholarly musicians, local and indigenous artists, as well as Latin and missionary dances. The official opening occurs on Saturday (7) at 6:00 p.m., with participation from researchers, university students, and institutional representatives of the Three Borders.

On Saturday (7) at 10:00 a.m., the Orchestra and Choir perform at the helipad area of the Iguaçu Falls. On Sunday (8) at 9:30 a.m., there is a special presentation at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, open to the public. Admission is free at all venues.

The exhibitions and the indigenous craft fair at Mercado Público Barrageiro run on Saturday (7) from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sunday (8) from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The fair includes a poster show on Guairá and the Paulo Porto Exhibition.

The academic program covers the archaeology of the Jesuit-Guarani Missions in Argentina, the Jesuit Path as a tourist itinerary, and the Little Archaeologists Project. There are also debates on the Jesuit Route in Paraguay and tourism as a driver of economic development. A manifesto in defense of heritage will be available for signature by interested parties.

The festival is organized by Itaipu Parquetec, Circuito Cultural, Mercado Público Barrageiro, and Itaipu Binacional, with support from ABRAJET-PR and sponsorship from Fundo Iguassu.
