Project should cut travel time by up to 25 minutes

A new viaduct at km 10 of Route PY02 in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, is expected to save between 20 and 25 minutes of travel for more than 60,000 people. The structure’s opening is scheduled for 2027.

According to the Minister of Public Works and Communications, the intervention aims to decongest one of the country’s main eastern access routes. The official highlighted that the project will give back time to drivers who lose hours in daily traffic.

Current works include earthmoving, paving of collector roads, parking lots, access ramps, and a new internal road. Construction of bike lanes, sidewalks, and storm-water drainage systems is also underway. The project, called “Kilometer 10 Node Road Improvement,” involves an elevation over the national highway and the alignment of Monday Street (to the south) and Acaray Street (to the north).

The Acaray-Tocsa Consortium is carrying out the works with financing from Itaipu Binacional. Technical monitoring is performed by a joint panel of representatives from the entity, the Presidential Management Unit, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, and the contracted company.
