Bus fare in Foz do Iguaçu rises to R$ 6 on Dec 4

The new fare of R$ 6 replaces the previous amount of R$ 5, representing an increase of R$ 1 per ride. The adjustment was formalized through a decree published in the Municipal Official Gazette and applies to all users, regardless of payment method.

According to the city hall, the fare had not been adjusted since June 2022; the correction based on the IPCA index from June 2022 to September 2026 resulted exactly in the new amount. The stated goal is to boost fare revenue and thereby reduce the financial deficit of the public transport system, lowering the monthly municipal subsidy.

The provisional contract that governs the collective service is scheduled to end in March, and the municipal administration has already announced a public bidding process for a new system model. Passengers who load their ticketing cards by December 3 can use them at the old price of R$ 5 for 30 days after the increase takes effect.
