The management of Argentina's Iguazú National Park and the concessionaire Iguazú Argentina S.A. closed all public areas of the park on 12 October, including the Lower and Upper trails. According to the statement, the river's flow passed 12,000 m³/s, an extraordinary level, and reopening depends on inspecting the trails and structures once the river drops. The Devil's Throat trail had already been closed since 3 August, with its walkways removed.
Visitors and agencies should follow the park's official channels before planning the trip.

The main walkway over the river has been closed since Sunday, 11 October, as have the Poço Preto and Bananeiras tours, and on 12 October the São João Circuit and Espaço Usina; the trail and viewpoints are working. The walkway reopens once the flow drops.
