Itaipu funds new Apae headquarters in Foz and expands slots

Itaipu Binacional and the Apae of Foz do Iguaçu signed an agreement that covers executive projects, permits, construction work and technical monitoring. The new headquarters will be erected on land donated by the Foz City Hall, located in Jardim Itamaraty, next to Apae’s second campus.

With the completion of the first phase, the capacity of the specialized education area will increase from 505 to about 700 students. The total investment is approximately R$ 24.86 million, with a 30-month execution period.

Itaipu’s Brazilian general director, Enio Verri, said the support is part of the company’s social inclusion mission. Apae’s social director, Leonardo Correa Lugon, who also works at Itaipu, explained that the old space will be dedicated to expanding health and social assistance, with an expectation to double monthly services, which currently total around 2,000.

Apae is also seeking certification as a CER II (Specialized Rehabilitation Center), a federal program that funds rehabilitation for people with disabilities. According to Lugon, the current demand includes a waiting list for specialized education, and the combined health and education services could benefit between 3,000 and 4,000 people.

On the morning of Tuesday (27), Apae representatives presented frames painted by students to Itaipu Binacional directors – Enio Verri, Carlos Carboni and Luiz Fernando Delazari – at Itaipu’s Executive Center.
